Stormy, unsettled pattern this week

Tonight: Another mild overnight in the low/mid 60s with mostly cloudy skies.

Monday: We’ll start the day dry and mostly cloudy as high temperatures climb into the lower 80s. Scattered showers and a few thunderstorms will develop in the late afternoon, lasting into the evening hours. Could be stormy for some of those evening youth practices!

This Week: An unsettled pattern unfolds starting Monday and lasting nearly every day through the end of the week. As a ridge of high pressure breaks down and trends southeast, this opens the door for daily rain/storm chances mainly during the afternoon and evening hours similar to a Summer pattern.

Due to this, we’ll see more clouds than sun throughout the week and you’ll want to keep the umbrella handy each day. If we were to find a period that may be a little drier, it appears mid to late week would be the time for that. Storms will be more numerous on Monday and Tuesday, becoming less numerous by Thursday through Saturday. This would be your pick mowing days for the week if you’re looking for the best chance to dodge some rain.

By the end of this week, rainfall totals will generally be higher over west Alabama and lower as you head east. However, much of this action will be spotty in nature, so some spots may only get a quarter inch this week while others receive over 2”.

Our air will remain very muggy, keeping overnight lows very mild in the 60s and afternoon highs mostly in the lower half of the 80s.
