MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WSFA) – The latest show at the Alabama Shakespeare Festival is not an in-house produced show, but rather a unique project. “We Shall Someday” brings to life the legacy of the Freedom Riders by traveling along the 1961 Freedom Riders’ route.
According to the show’s co-director Tyler Thomas, the We Shall Someday Project chose to begin its run in the capital city because Montgomery is, “the birthplace of Civil Rights.”
The show follows a ripple affect across three generations of the Tate family after Julius Tate joins the Freedom Riders in spring of 1961. The show is divided into three acts, each centering on a critical period in the lives of Julius Tate, his daughter Ruby Tate, and finally her son Jay Tate…
