Alabama governor signs ‘Speedy Trial Act’ into law

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WSFA) – Gov. Kay Ivey signed House Bill 307 on Tuesday, establishing the “Speedy Trial Act” in Alabama.

The bill, sponsored by Sen. Will Barfoot (R) and Rep. Jim Hill (R), expedites trials for violent criminal cases, reduces backlogs and ensures swift justice for victims.
