Alabama restaurant opens 8th location near major Montgomery attraction

Hero Doughnuts & Buns is bringing its brioche doughnuts, buns and more to Alabama’s capital city with a new location near one of its most popular attractions.

Hero Doughnuts & Buns opened its new Montgomery store, located at 350 North Perry Street across from Equal Justice Initiative’s Legacy Museum and Legacy Plaza, this morning, offering downtown visitors and residents a much-needed breakfast and lunch option.

Hero got its start in the Birmingham area in 2017 when Birmingham chef Wil Drake opened its first location in Homewood. Since then, the eatery — which serves an eclectic menu of unique doughnut flavors, burgers and more, all made with its signature French brioche — has opened eight stores in Alabama, Tennessee and Georgia.

“We’re super excited to have our eighth location here in Montgomery,” Drake said at the opening. “It’s a very fun menu. It’s all from memories of my childhood, all my recipes. We make everything in-house from scratch. Our main focus is our dough, so we are all about the dough that we make, our brioche dough, we use that for our buns, our hamburgers and sandwiches, even for our homemade doughnuts.”…
