Multi-million-dollar redevelopment in historic Montgomery district to include new breakfast spot

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WSFA) -The strip across from the Capri Theatre in Montgomery’s historic Old Cloverdale has been around for 109 years. It used to be an area buzzing with business with local staples like Cafe Louisa and Tomatino’s Pizza.

In recent years, however, the tenants were forced out and the buildings deteriorated. Ultimately, even the roof fell in. Now, the strip is getting new life.

“We have a group out of Birmingham, a development group that has come to Montgomery and they’re doing a real rehab and renovation of these properties that are on East Fairview, really in the heart of Cloverdale,” explained Andrew Szymanski, the city councilor that represents the area…
