Riverwalk Stadium in Newsweek contest for ‘Best Double-A Ballpark’

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WSFA) – Riverwalk Stadium is in the running to win a nationwide competition. Newsweek named the home of the Montgomery Biscuits one of the best Double-A Ballparks in the country, and your vote could put it in the top spot.

Riverwalk Stadium has a cool industrial feel right along the Alabama River, among a number of old warehouses, and, of course, adjacent to the train tracks that are still operational just beyond the outfield.

It’s been the home of the Biscuits, a Tampa Bay Rays Double-A affiliate, since the renovation and repurposing project finished in 2004, which incorporates the train shed history with the Club Car bar, the Rail Yard, and the Train Station stands inside. Six of its 20 luxury suites are built into the historic train terminal. And the experience is known for its “flying biscuits,” when actual biscuits shoot out of a cannon and into the stands during the games…
