City Councilor shares perspective for National Gun Violence Awareness Day

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WSFA) – The first Friday in June is National Gun Violence Awareness Day, and according to Everytown for Gun Safety, in Alabama, around 560 people die and around 930 are wounded by gun violence every year. This is the fifth-highest rate of gun violence in the U.S.

Alabama has some of the least restrictive gun laws in the nation. Anyone 19-years-old or older can purchase a gun without a background check. And without a permit.
