Montgomery mayor, police announce new plan to bolster community safety

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WSFA) – After three shooting incidents occurred in Montgomery over the weekend, Mayor Steven Reed and the Montgomery Police Department say they are taking new steps to bolster public safety and put people’s minds at ease.

MPD Chief James N. Graboys addressed the public at a press conference Monday where he laid out a new strategy to bolster police resources to better patrol high-crime areas and pursue suspects.

“This weekend was difficult and painful for our department and our community,” Chief Graboys said. “But I want the people of Montgomery to know we will not stop. We are putting every available resource behind solving these crimes and preventing the next ones. I am personally committed to that mission.”…
