Update: Quarter-sized hail and damaging winds predicted with thunderstorms in Lowndes and Montgomery counties Friday

An updated severe thunderstorm warning was released by the National Weather Service on Friday at 3:07 p.m. in effect until 3:30 p.m. for Lowndes and Montgomery counties.

The storms are anticipated to bring quarter-sized hail (1 inch) and wind gusts of up to 60 mph.

“At 3:07 p.m., a severe thunderstorm was located near Dannelly Field, or 9 miles northeast of Hayneville, moving west at 10 mph,” states the weather service. “Hail damage to vehicles is expected. Expect wind damage to roofs, siding, and trees.”…
