A gray and white cat lurked in the bushes as Tara Hare explained how to set up traps for feral cats. When she arrived at the home in Cloverdale-Idlewild neighborhood, five cats lounged in the yard.
For the past two years, Hare has trapped cats at the home. She estimated she has caught at least 25 on the property. After she traps the cats, she works with nonprofits to spay and neuter the animals and then releases them back at the same location.
The process, called trap-neuter-return, helps to curb colonies of feral cats. Hare began work individually to help these animals, but two years ago, she created the Montgomery Area TNR Community to organize volunteers to trap cats in the city…
