Montgomery shootings shake local businesses and residents

Two deadly shootings rocked Montgomery over the weekend, leaving the community on edge and local business owners concerned. One shooting occurred at Real Cutz barbershop on Upper Wetumpka Road, where 26-year-old Dekeith Whatley from Montgomery was found with life-threatening gunshot wounds.

The violence has left nearby business owners, like the owner of Pro Hardware, feeling unsettled.

“We need to really narrow it down by getting a handle on the guns, first of all, so we won’t have so much senseless shootings of these younger kids,” said Reginald Provitt, owner of Pro Hardware. “I hope we can get someone in the political field that can get in there and do something about that.”…
