MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WSFA) – With crime happening every day, it’s important to have a team committed to helping each caller through each situation.
Hiring classes were launched in January, April, and July, with a continuous focus on building and maintaining a team capable of meeting the demands of 24/7 emergency services.
The Emergency Communications team now includes 5 police/fire dispatchers, 15 operators, 5 supervisors, a training manager, and a center manager.
Every new hire must complete a comprehensive four to eight-week classroom training program before taking calls independently. The course covers everything from technical systems and communication protocols to mental readiness for the emotional challenges of the job…
