Big news for Irondale: Alabama’s sixth Costco is coming.
During a city meeting Tuesday night, Irondale announced it will be home to the newest Costco Wholesale store in the state. This $105 million project will represent the most significant economic development in the city since the creation of the Irondale Luxury Automall.
Here are some of the numbers, according to the City of Irondale:
- $105 million projected investment
- 152,000 square-foot warehouse
- $70 million in potential performance-based incentives from Costco
- 200-300 new jobs
- $6 million to $8 million per year in new sales tax revenue
- 88% rebate cap on non-educational city sales tax
- One self-service gas station
