HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WAFF) – With the possibility of Alabama having to pay a larger share for SNAP benefits, state lawmakers are trying to find ways to save the state money. Which means recipients may have to be a little more selective when it comes to their shopping.
The federal government currently pays for 100% of SNAP benefits, but because of President Donald Trump’s spending package, that may change.
Starting in 2028, if the state’s error rate is over 6%, meaning 6% of SNAP dollars are distributed incorrectly, it could be required to pay millions towards SNAP…
