MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WSFA) – Residents of a Montgomery neighborhood are mourning a dog that died after falling into a storm drain Wednesday.
Firefighters responded to a residential area off South Court street Wednesday afternoon where they learned that Oreo, a Maltese-Poodle mix, had fallen into one of the street’s drains while trying to get to safety after a passing car ran over her foot.
After trying to access the drain, responders said they didn’t think there was anything that could be done for Oreo, but they would continue trying.
Wednesday evening, a crew member with North Montgomery County Fire and Rescue was able to get down into the drain, but it was too late…
