ADPH officials share tips to avoid dog attacks after 2 deadly ones take place in Alabama

ALABAMA (WHNT) — The Alabama Department of Public Health is sharing how residents can protect themselves after a series of dog attacks in the state.

APDH said Friday that after a series of deadly dog attacks in central Alabama, it is advising caution around all animals due to the risk of scratches and potential disease transmission.

Our sister station, CBS 42, reported that 50-year-old Delores Musgrove died from wounds sustained in an attack by multiple dogs in Bessemer last week. That attack came days after a 7-year-old child died in Chilton County after being injured in a dog attack. Chilton County Sheriff John Shearon told CBS 42 that the child’s grandmother, who was trying to help her grandchild, was also injured in that attack.

The Greater Birmingham Humane Society also said a man is in critical condition after a dog attack on Wednesday night at a Walker County trailer park. GBHS said animal control officers encountered 40 dogs in the area of the attack…
