Great Value Frozen Shrimp Recalled For Being Radioactive

DOTHAN, Ala. (WDNews) — Beaver Street Fisheries, LLC of Jacksonville, Fla., has issued a voluntary recall of select packages of Great Value Frozen Raw Shrimp due to concerns over possible contamination with Cesium-137, a man-made radioactive isotope.

The recall applies to Great Value Frozen Raw Shrimp EZ-Peel & Deveined Tail-On 21–25 per lb, sold in plastic bags with the following lot codes and best-by dates:

  • Lot Code 8005540-1, Best By 3/15/2027
  • Lot Code 8005538-1, Best By 3/15/2027
  • Lot Code 8005539-1, Best By 3/15/2027

The shrimp was distributed in 12 states, including Alabama, and sold at select Walmart stores between July 28 and August 7, 2025.

While no illnesses have been reported, the recall follows an FDA advisory dated Aug. 19, 2025. The FDA noted that, although no contaminated product entered U.S. commerce, shrimp from the supplier PT.
