CLAYTON, ALABAMA, Ala. — Authorities arrested a Ventress Correctional Officer Friday following an investigation into the introduction of contraband into Alabama prisons.
The Alabama Department of Corrections said Veronica Smith was taken into custody after agents from ADOC’s Law Enforcement Services Division, with K-9 units and the Barbour County Special Response Team, executed an arrest and residential search warrant in Clayton. Investigators seized documents and electronics related to the case.
