MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WDNews) – The 2026 Outdoor Alabama Photo Contest will open for entries at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 3, 2025. The annual contest is a partnership between the Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (ADCNR) and the Alabama Tourism Department. The deadline to enter is Oct. 31, 2025.
“Alabama’s abundant wildlife, public lands and outdoor recreation opportunities make it the perfect destination for outdoor photography,” said ADCNR Commissioner Chris Blankenship. “Each year, nearly two thousand images are entered… We are honored to showcase their work and look forward to seeing the many incredible photos entered in the 2026 contest.”
The contest highlights traditional photography techniques using handheld cameras. Cellphones, drones, and game cameras will not be accepted in most categories, although smartphone and tablet entries are allowed in the Young Photographers category for ages 17 and under…
