Prattville kindergarten teacher begins a new chapter after school closure

PRATTVILLE, Ala. (WSFA) – “PKS is the best.” That’s the motto at Prattville Kindergarten School, and some would argue it’s even better now that the school has relocated to a brand-new building with new resources—and new teachers like Mrs. Nicole Smith.

“I’m surrounded by other kindergarten teachers, so I get to talk to them, and see what they’re doing and get ideas from them,” she said.

Smith is enjoying the chance to collaborate with coworkers and other teachers at PKS because, for years, she was the sole kindergarten teacher at Autaugaville School. She got her start there more than 16 years ago, teaching at the very school she once attended, graduated from, and called home. Sadly, that school closed last school year.
