Individual naloxone (Narcan) kits are now available to the public for free at the Montgomery County Health Department. No ID or prescription is required.
The Alabama Department of Public Health says the state has been hit especially hard by the opioid epidemic, leading to overdose deaths. It says naloxone (also known as Narcan), is a life-saving medication which can reverse an overdose from opioids, heroin, fentanyl and prescription opioid medications.
