Ivey begins Back-to-School tour with 9/11 tribute in Montgomery

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WDNews) — Governor Kay Ivey will launch her Back-to-School Tour today with a visit to Carver Elementary and Arts Magnet School in Montgomery, where she will take part in a 9/11 remembrance program.

Ivey’s stop comes as Alabama schools begin a new academic year and as the nation prepares to mark its 250th birthday. The governor said the milestone is a reminder of the importance of raising students to be both good scholars and good citizens.

Montgomery Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Zickeyous Byrd, Carver Elementary Principal Dr. Angela Sampson, and other local leaders are expected to join Ivey at the event…
