Food safety is an issue that impacts every aspect of our lives, from our national economy to our kitchen table and the health of our families. We must be able to have confidence that the food we buy in our local grocery stores is safe. In order to ensure that, we must have a Commissioner of Agriculture who understands the importance of food safety from the farm to the table to ensure that our food supply is safe.
Our state’s Department of Agriculture is responsible for overseeing the safety of the food supply from ensuring the health of the livestock and poultry on our farms to strengthening the safe food supply chain. Because I am a working farmer and the owner of a grocery store, I am uniquely qualified to focus on the aspects of our food supply chain that are the most vulnerable, putting our economy’s health and the health of our families at risk…
