Man indicted for Alabama crash that killed Roanoke man

ROANOKE, Va. (WDBJ) – An Alabama man has been indicted for two charges of reckless muirder for a crash that killed two people, including a Roanoke man.

Jeremy Humphrey, 37, is accused of driving while under the influence of alcohol at the time of a crash that killed Jerad Swartz, 32, of Roanoke and Jalisa Smart-Haynes, 31, of Alabama.

The indictment was handed down September 18, 2025 by a grand jury more than a year after the crash that took place May 5, 2024…
