MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WSFA) – A stretch of road in Montgomery has been given a special repaving as part of a new safety initiative.
Crews have installed a layer of High Friction Surface Treatment, or HFST, over Pelzer Avenue between Wareingwood Drive and Honeysuckle Road. This new pavement is designed to increase traction on the roadway and give drivers better control of their cars, especially in wet or curved spots.
The chosen length of road is a “high-crash area” that city officials hope will be improved with the new pavement.
