MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Alabama 911 Board has announced its grant cycle 10 recipients. The goal of these grants is to update emergency communication district call handling systems and other recorders.
This grant cycle was previously tabled in September 2024, due to the need for statutory clarity on the source of those grant awards within the 911 Fund. The Alabama 911 Board was able to continue with grant cycle discussions after the passage of Alabama Act 2025-376, which modernized how state-collected 911 recovery funds could be distributed and used to reflect current technology and the need of local 911 districts.
Several local emergency communication districts will receive funding, including Jefferson County ECD, which will receive $644,785; Hale ECD, which will receive more than $136,000; Calhoun ECD, which will receive $494,562; Tarrant ECD, which will receive nearly $200,000; and Homewood ECD, which will receive $89,780…
