First Alert Weather: Isolated rain chances early this week

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBRC) – Happy Sunday!

It’s been a sunny start to the day with temperatures rapidly warming into the mid 80s late this morning. High pressure continues to build in from the north providing us northeasterly winds this afternoon. With plenty of sinking air in place, rain chances appear unlikely this afternoon across central Alabama.

We should enjoy a mostly sunny sky this afternoon. Plan for summer-like heat with temperatures climbing into the upper 80s. Parts of west Alabama could see high temperatures climbing into the lower 90s. Our average high for Sept. 28 is 83°F, so we will likely end up 7 to 10 degrees above average this afternoon. If you have any evening plans, we should remain dry with temperatures cooling into the upper 70s by 7 p.m.

A few showers Monday: Tomorrow morning will likely start out dry with temperatures in the mid 60s. Tomorrow afternoon is shaping up to be partly cloudy and very warm with highs returning into the upper 80s. Easterly flow will help squeeze out a few showers across east Alabama Monday afternoon. I think most of us will remain dry and very warm.

Next Big Thing: We will hold on to a small chance for isolated showers Tuesday, Sept. 30 and Wednesday, Oct. 1. The greatest chance to encounter a brief shower will likely occur in east Alabama…
