Alabama tightens gun laws for recent felons

DOTHAN, Ala. (WTVY) – Those with recent felony convictions in Alabama can no longer legally carry firearms under a new state law that took effect on Oct. 1.

The legislation prohibits individuals from possessing guns if they have been convicted of any felony in the past five years, regardless of whether the conviction occurred in Alabama or another state.
