Sink Your Teeth Into Alabama’s Best Burgers at This Must-Try Spot

There are occasions when my taste buds start calling out for a tasty, juicy burger. They start with a polite request, but if unsatisfied, they will become downright rude. As you can imagine, with such demanding cravings, I have tasted my fair share of burgers and developed my own set of preferences. The patty needs to be flavorful, of course, but the bun and toppings are just as critical. I prefer a burger with a toasted bun and dressed with high-quality, fresh ingredients. One Alabama restaurant has nailed every aspect of the perfect burger. Alabama Stackers in downtown Jasper, Alabama, is a family-owned, casual eatery that takes its burgers seriously.

Brothers Josh Fowler, Jay, and Nick McKinney started Alabama Stackers in 2020 as a food truck. In 2022, the restaurant grew into a permanent location in a grey-painted building on 19th Street East, achieving considerable success and community support. It has a covered outdoor seating area with picnic tables where guests can enjoy their meals al fresco. If you prefer to take your meal to go, carry-out or drive-through are fantastic options. Customers can also order ahead online for pick-up or delivery.

Its menu features classic American fare like all-beef hot dogs, chicken tender sandwiches, and, of course, hot and fresh burgers. Alabama Stackers’ burgers come with two, three, or four patties, American cheese, and a toasted sesame seed bun. The “Grilled Cheese” Burger features one beef patty inside a traditional grilled cheese—yum! Kids’ meals include a Grilled Cheese and a Corn Dog. It also serves hand-cut fries, a bag of chips, and ice cream. The menu features several flavors of milkshakes, including vanilla, strawberry, chocolate, and occasionally, seasonal flavors like pumpkin pie. One of their chocolate milkshakes topped with whipped cream and a cherry sounds like the perfect ending to any meal at Alabama Stackers.

Jasper, Alabama, a small town with about 14,000 residents, has incredible attractions. It’s home to the clearest lake in Alabama, Lewis Smith Lake, which has nearly 22,000 acres of clear blue water where visitors can paddleboard, swim, kayak, and more. The Walker County Public Fishing Lake is a beautiful, family-friendly lake stocked with largemouth bass, blue gill, redear sunfish, channel catfish, and crappie, among other species. Jasper has fantastic restaurants like Warehouse 3 Nineteen, Los Reyes Grill, and Crawfish Warehouse. It also boasts the coolest gas station in the state, Bayou Fresh Seafood, which, believe it or not, serves delicious sushi and seafood dishes, including crab claws and shrimp.

The Hampton Inn in Jasper, Alabama, is a wonderful family-friendly hotel. It offers an outdoor swimming pool, fitness center, free Wi-FI, and breakfast. It also has a convenient location on Industrial Parkway.
