MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WSFA) – The Montgomery City Council is discussing new public safety measures following the Oct. 4 mass shooting in downtown Montgomery.
The council is considering a proposed ban on face coverings in public spaces and expansion of an existing downtown curfew for young people in an effort to hold more parents responsible for their children’s actions.
“One thing we want to make sure that parents are doing their jobs and one way of doing that is to ensure that this has teeth so those parents are held accountable for their actions or in-actions,” said City Councilwoman Marche Johnson. “And that means while we’re working with MPS and those star students aren’t getting held accountable, those bad actors are and those bad actors include the parents of the bad actors.”…
