MONTGOMERY, Ala. — Anthony Boyd and his supporters are urging Governor Kay Ivey to meet with him before his scheduled execution. Boyd maintains he did not commit the 1993 murder that led to his death sentence.
Boyd, 53, is set to be executed by nitrogen gas on Oct. 23. A judge sentenced him for his role in the killing of Gregory Huguley in Talladega. Prosecutors said Boyd taped Huguley’s feet together before another man doused him with gasoline and set him on fire over a $200 cocaine debt.
During his appeal, Boyd spoke directly to Ivey: “I’m asking, extending, offering, giving you an invitation to please come sit down and talk to me before this execution is carried out, before an innocent man is executed,” he said…
