Officials push Aniah’s Law expansion after Montgomery mass shooting

DOTHAN, Ala. (WTVY) – A recent mass shooting in downtown Montgomery has prompted officials to demand an expansion of Aniah’s Law, with supporters and critics at odds over the proposal’s impact on victim protection and constitutional rights.

Caitlin Perry with the Wiregrass Angel House said she supports Governor Kay Ivey’s effort to close what Ivey called a “legal loophole” that allows those suspected of attempted murder to have mandatory bail.
