BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBRC) – The United Way of Central Alabama is offering grants to local nonprofits to make sure they have food to distribute as we inch closer to SNAP benefits being put on hold.
Candace O’Neil, VP of Community Engagement at United Way Central Alabama, said, “Whenever there’s an unexpected pause in support systems, it can create an immediate hardship, especially on families who are already working hard to make ends meet.”
We’ve never seen it at this scale — SNAP benefits could be cut to families across the country and right here at home…
