MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WSFA) – A judge has denied a request by the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office for a bond increase following public outcry over the release of a suspect in the Oct. 4 downtown Montgomery mass shooting.
Javorick Whiting, 19, was arrested on Oct. 16 and charged with one count of attempted murder in connection to the shooting, which left two people dead and a dozen more injured. His bond was set at $60,000, which is the maximum for an attempted murder charge.
Whiting was later able to post bond and was released from the Montgomery County Detention Facility.
