(WDNews) — Alabama drivers can now show their Mardi Gras pride with a brand-new specialty license plate celebrating the state’s deep Carnival roots.
The Alabama Department of Revenue has approved the Mardi Gras tag, designed by local artist Reagan Windsor and sponsored by the Birthplace of Mardi Gras Foundation based in Saraland. Pre-orders began Nov. 1, and at least 1,000 must be sold before the plates go into full production.
The colorful design highlights the purple, green and gold themes associated with Mardi Gras, adding a splash of Alabama spirit to vehicles statewide. Supporters say the plate honors the Mobile Bay area’s history as the true birthplace of Mardi Gras in the United States…
