BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBRC) – Thousands of Alabamians will see the cost of their health insurance rise when premium tax credits expire at the end of 2025 if Congress chooses not to extend them.
These tax credits help nearly 470,000 Alabamians afford health care through Healthcare.gov. With them expiring, some advocates worry thousands of people will lose their coverage and many more will see dramatic increases in their monthly premiums.
