MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WIAT) — Some lawmakers in Alabama want to crack down on crimes committed against public officials. This comes after a candidate running for state office was threatened while on the campaign trail.
“You’re gonna have people saying things, disagreeing with you, and so forth,” said Christina Woerner McInnis, candidate for Agriculture and Industries Commissioner. “Pretty much expected that part of running for politics. What I didn’t expect is to be attacked by a predator.”
McInnis is running for Agriculture Commissioner alongside Corey Hill, the Mayor of Douglas, and State Sen. Jack Williams (R-Wilmer).
