Ten days after Denesha Lyles dropped her children off with family in Tallassee and eight days after a fire at the Hayneville home of her boyfriend, Deldrick Keon Thomas, the Lowndes County Sheriff’s department announce an arrest in what they believe to be Lyle’s murder and a case of arson.
The arrest was announced one week after Lyles’s family reported her missing to the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office and six days after an unidentified female body was pulled from the remnants of the burned home. Sheriff Chris West’s office announced Thomas, 36, had been arrested for the murder of Lyles and first-degree arson.
“Forensics has not yet identified the body,” said the Sheriff’s investigator Randall Johnson as he testified in an Aniah’s Law hearing on Monday, Nov. 24. “We believe it to be Denesha Lyles from Tallassee. We are about 99% sure that is who it is.”…
