Birmingham, AL — After weeks of dry and abnormally warm conditions, a much-needed shift toward wetter weather is on the way for Alabama. The National Weather Service in Birmingham reports that a series of chilly rain events is expected to move into the region beginning late tonight and continuing into next week.

Scattered showers are forecast overnight into Sunday, but the most significant rainfall arrives Monday night into Tuesday morning, when a widespread, soaking rain event is expected across much of central and eastern Alabama.
