Gov. Kay Ivey announced that Alabama families can now access information about the CHOOSE Act’s family application portal on the program’s updated website. The CHOOSE Act, or Creating Hope and Opportunity for Our Students’ Education Act of 2024, is designed to help families prepare for the state’s education savings account (ESA) program for the 2026-2027 academic year.
The website offers details on eligibility, application processes for both renewing and new families, FAQs, deadlines, and guides for parents and education service providers (ESPs). The application portal for renewing families will open on Dec. 15, 2025, while new families can apply starting Jan. 2, 2026. Both portals will close on March 31, with award notifications sent out on April 15, 2026.

Ivey. “I am excited for even more Alabama parents to have a greater voice in their children’s education, and I urge parents to apply and choose the education that best suits their children.”…
