At a Dec. 8 meeting, Lowndes County Commissioners approved implementing a new emergency management system.
Lowndes County Emergency Management Agency Director Charles Sigler appeared before the commission asking them to move forward on his previous requests to engage an emergency telephone notification system. Sigler had petitioned the commission for the request at several previous meetings, asking for approval to engage a new system for sending out emergency alerts through cell phone notifications.
At the Monday meeting, commissioners unanimously voted to approve Sigler’s request. The system will cost the county roughly $4,500, with half being reimbursable through the State of Alabama…
