US Space Force flag up at Alabama rest areas, welcome centers

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WIAT) — Those visiting Alabama rest areas and welcome centers within the next week may notice the U.S. Space Force flag flying.

Alabama Gov. Kay Ivey announced Wednesday the Space Force flag will be flown until Tuesday to honor the branch’s sixth birthday, which is on Saturday. President Donald Trump announced in September plans to move U.S. Space Command from Colorado Springs, Colorado, to Huntsville.

“The U.S. Space Force is a critical branch of our military with a serious mission, and it deserves to be recognized as such.
