Peace-walking monks enter Alabama, greeted by communities along route

Buddhist monks making a 2,300 mile walk for peace through the United States arrived in Alabama this week, and have been met by warm greetings and a place to stay along their journey.

The roughly two dozen monks began their walk in Fort Worth on Oct. 26 en route to Washington D.C. to share their message “of peace, loving kindness, and compassion across America and the world.”

“As the walk for peace enters Alabama, gratitude flows to every volunteer, supporter, and unseen hand that has made this journey possible,” a post on the monks’ Instagram page said. “The path ahead continues, but this moment stands as a testament to what is possible when compassion leads the way.”…
