Alabama to receive $4 million in Mercedes-Benz emission fraud settlement

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WBRC) – Alabama will receive money through a settlement with a car company over emissions fraud.

According to the Office of the Attorney General, Alabama Attorney General Steve Marshall joined a coalition of 50 attorney generals announcing a $149,673,750 settlement with Mercedes-Benz USA and Mercedes-Benz Group AG.

The settlement says Mercedes-Benz “violates state laws prohibiting unfair or deceptive trade practices by marketing, selling and leasing vehicles equipped with illegal and undisclosed emissions defeat devices to circumvent emissions standards.”…
