Gov. Ivey awards $2.3M in grants to aid crime victims in Alabama programs

Gov. Kay Ivey has announced the allocation of nine grants totaling approximately $2.3 million to support programs assisting victims of crimes such as domestic violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking across Alabama.

“Victims of these terrible crimes deserve to have a safe haven where they receive professional care and the chance for healing and justice,” Gov. Ivey said. “These grants will fund programs that provide essential services to people in a time of urgent need.”

The Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs (ADECA) is managing the grants with funds provided by the U.S. Department of Justice. ADECA Director Kenneth Boswell expressed support for the initiative, stating, “These programs offer victims of these crimes protection from further harm and guidance in moving forward. ADECA stands with Gov. Ivey in support of organizations and professionals that help people rebuild their lives.”…
