2 more suspects in Jim Massey’s robbery, assault sentenced to federal prison

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WSFA) – Two of the men who pled guilty to the March 2025 armed robbery and assault of Montgomery business owner Jim Massey were sentenced to federal prison on Tuesday.

A federal judge sentenced Spirit Hooks, 51, to 14 years in federal prison. Spencer Thomas, 68, was sentenced to 12 years.

58-year-old Zedekiah Sykes, who federal prosecutors called the “ringleader and organizer of the robbery,” was sentenced in October 2025 to 195 months, or just over 16 years in prison…
