HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — Frozen pipes could be a costly side-effect of a winter wave that will put much of Alabama below the freezing mark on the thermometer for several days.
State Farm said on Friday that it has paid more than $10 million in frozen pipe and water damage claims across Alabama from 2024 through June 2025, prompting warnings from the insurer as winter weather grips the state.
The claims stem from water damage caused by freezing conditions, including damage to foundations, slabs and other freeze-related losses.
