Montgomery struck Sunday by storm winds, severe chills, power outages

Montgomery saw tree damage, downed lines and power outages as cold weather storms and wind gusts struck the area Sunday.

The city was part of a six-county area — Barbour, Bullock, Macon, Montgomery, Pike and Russell counties — under a wind advisory, with gusts up to 40 miles per hour and wind chill temperatures as low as 12 degrees, according to the National Weather Service. Along with Montgomery, the impact area includes the cities of Union Springs, Eufaula, Phenix City, Troy and Tuskegee.
