Montgomery police investigate two homicides within about 48 hours

The Montgomery Police Department is investigating two homicides which occurred within about 48 hours of each other.

The following information was provided by Lt. Ernestina McGriff, spokeswoman for the Montgomery Police Department:

  • On Saturday, Jan. 24, at about 3:25 a.m., police and fire medics went to the area of St. James Street near Seay Street in reference to a subject person shot. They found Trey Jiles, 32, of Montgomery. Jiles had suffered fatal gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead.
  • On Monday, Jan. 26, at about 7:41 p.m., police and fire medics went to the area of East Sixth Street near West Street on a report of a person shot. They found Earnest Stone, 67, of Montgomery, who suffered fatal injuries from a gunshot wound and was pronounced dead.

The cases are not related and are the first and second homicide cases reported in Montgomery for the year, McGriff said…
