Fifth weekend fire consumes multiple north Montgomery buildings

A large fire spread rapidly in north Montgomery on Sunday afternoon after a weekend of fires in the area.

At 1:48 p.m. on Feb. 1, a large grass fire that had spread to two vacant structures in the 1800 block of Congressman L. Dickerson Drive drew a response from Montgomery Fire/Rescue units, said K.R. Peoples, a spokesperson for MFR.

Peoples said that strong wings urged the rapid spread of the fire. The blaze got so big it spread to an additional vacant building, Peoples said. Despite the size of the fire, no injuries were reported, and MFR successfully contained the fire.

Peoples said that the situation around the fire is still under investigation…
